Catering: what is it?

Catering is a wide range of services related to the organization and service of meals outside specialized establishments (restaurants, cafes, pubs, canteens, etc.).

Catering is organized within the framework of the location chosen by the client (office, park, hotel, yard, etc.) and includes:

food preparation and delivery;
serving and decorating the table;
serving dishes;
bottling drinks and serving them;
waiter service.
In other words, if we take into account everything written above, we can say that catering is a kind of off-site restaurant service.

Types of catering
We have dealt with the concept of "catering", so you can safely proceed to the analysis of its types.
Depending on the set of services provided, away catering is divided as follows:

Formats of catering service
Banquet. The most popular format for holding events (both private and corporate) in Ukraine. If we talk about the cuisine, the banquet menu includes a full set of dishes: from appetizers to desserts and pastries.
buffet Unlike a banquet, a buffet does not involve the seating of guests and their service by waiters. The tasks of the waiters during the buffet include only cleaning dirty dishes and pouring drinks. Guests themselves take snacks and glasses with drinks from the tables allocated for them. All dishes on the buffet are compact and, as a rule, do not require the use of cutlery.
Coffee break. Snack break between parts of one or another event. Service within the coffee break is not provided. And among dishes and drinks, tea, coffee, juices, water, fruits, sandwiches and pastries prevail.
Barbecue. A picnic in nature, the basis of which cuisine consists of dishes from meat, fish and vegetables cooked on the grill. The reason for organizing a barbecue can be both private and official holidays.
Visiting cocktail bar. The catering format, which is relevant in those cases when the main purpose of the holiday is to organize communication, and not to treat its participants. And the menu in this case, as a rule, includes various cocktails, tinctures, lemonades and smoothies.

How much does it cost to order catering?
The cost of catering is formed depending on its format, assortment and number of dishes, duration of the event and other service conditions. There is no one-size-fits-all price. Everything is calculated individually. But all other things being equal, the organization of the banquet is considered the most expensive.
