On November 4, 2025, a guest lecture on the topic “How to create a service that is memorable at first glance” was held at the institute, which, at the invitation of the Department of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business for higher education students in the specialties J2 Hotel and Restaurant Business and Catering, J3 Tourism and Recreation, G13 Food Technologies, was conducted by Mykhailo Sheveliuk - founder and head of the Ukrainian Horeca School, an expert in service and hospitality, development manager of the Swiss Hotel and Valentino Restaurant (Lviv), Doctor of Philosophy in Cultural Studies, lecturer at the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business of the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture.
The lecture began with the question “What do guests expect from a restaurant?”, the answer to which the lecturer gave during his speech, citing a large number of relevant cases to confirm what was said. At the lecture, a thorough discussion was held on practices, through the implementation of which the guest will feel the attention and care of the staff for his person and he will certainly have a desire to return to the institution again. This, in particular, personalization of service for each specific guest, meeting the guest and saying goodbye to him, storytelling, interactive and various activities, pleasant surprises, authenticity, etc.Mykhailo noted that service is of key, decisive importance in the hospitality industry, since it is the basis for the formation of customer experience, guest loyalty, the reputation of the institution and its commercial success. And we completely agree with him.The higher education students and scientific and pedagogical workers of the department present at the lecture express their gratitude to Mr. Mykhailo for a meaningful and exciting lecture, which highlighted a topical and very important problem today.
