35 New Horizons of Professional Development: Mykhailo Sheveliuk Successfully Completes the "Teach4Dem" Program

A leader's continuous professional development is the key to the success of an entire organization. We are pleased to announce that the Head and Founder of the Ukrainian Horeca School, Mykhailo Sheveliuk, has successfully completed the advanced training course "Teach4Dem – Teaching for Democracy," organized by the NGO "Progresylni" (Progressives).

The training program, which took place from March 16 to 22, 2026 (30 hours / 1 ECTS credit), focused on integrating the principles of democracy, human rights, and participation into educational and professional processes.

Combining Academic Expertise and Practical Experience

Participation in such programs allows for the integration of global civil society values into the hospitality industry. For Mykhailo Sheveliuk, this course was another step in strengthening the expert foundation he daily shares with his students and partners.

Today, Mykhailo Sheveliuk is:

• PhD in Culturology (Cultural Studies) — applying an academic approach to understanding service as a cultural phenomenon.

• Head and Founder of the Ukrainian Horeca School — the leader of a premier educational platform for HoReCa professionals.

• Lecturer at the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture named after Ivan Bobersky.

• Member of the NGO "Union of Scientists of Ukraine" — an active participant in the country's scientific community.

• Practicing Expert and Manager — manager at the "Valentino" restaurant and the "Swiss" hotel, and the author of numerous training programs for waiters, bartenders, and sommeliers.

The Relevance of the Training for the HoReCa Sector

During the course, several critically important topics were covered, including:

1. Democracy on Autopilot: Risks and rules of the game in the era of generative AI.

2. Participation and Involvement: How democratic instruments become daily practices in team management.

3. The Experience Economy: Building service based on the principles of respect for dignity, equality, and inclusion.

"Hospitality is not just a service; it is a culture of respect and care. Integrating democratic values into business processes allows us to create an environment where every guest and every employee feels their importance," notes Mykhailo Sheveliuk.

The acquired knowledge and the official certificate (T4D/0710) will serve as a foundation for updating the training modules of the Ukrainian Horeca School and implementing innovative management models in the Hospitality sector.

We continue working towards the development of professional education and the European future of Ukraine!
