How is the Ukrainian hospitality industry adapting to the challenges of war and European integration? A summary of the participation of Mykhailo Sheveliuk, Head of the Ukrainian School of Hospitality, in the IV International Scientific and Practical Forum at Lviv Polytechnic. Exploring restaurant and hotel business trends, as well as inclusive service.

From April 28 to 30, 2026, Lviv hosted a large-scale and highly relevant event for our industry—the IV International Scientific and Practical Forum "Hospitality industry: state, development trends and prospects of the industry in the context of European integration and military challenges". The event brought together leading scientists, business practitioners, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and tourism experts.

Gratitude to the Organizers: Synergy of Science and Business
The organizers of this powerful platform were Lviv Polytechnic National University, the V. Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, and the Department of Tourism. The Ukrainian School of Hospitality expresses its sincere and deep gratitude to the organizers for their initiative, brilliant preparation, and the opportunity to discuss the most critical issues of survival and development in the HoReCa sector.
We would like to express our special personal gratitude to the Deputy Directors for Scientific and Pedagogical Work—Yaroslava Moskviak (who also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Forum's Organizing Committee) and Mariia Myrosh. Your titanic work, professionalism, and attention to every detail made this event maximally effective for all participants.

Participation of Mykhailo Sheveliuk: Inclusive Hospitality of the Future
The founder and head of the Ukrainian School of Hospitality (Ukrainian Horeca School), service expert, and development manager of the Lviv-based "Swiss" Hotel and "Valentino" restaurant, Mykhailo Sheveliuk, took an active part in the plenary session of the Forum.
His presentation during the poster session was dedicated to one of the most important topics of today: "Inclusive hospitality of the future". In modern conditions, as Ukraine goes through the stage of post-war reconstruction, inclusion ceases to be just a basic social responsibility. It is transforming into a premium standard of service.
In his scientific work, developed jointly with Professor Mariia Paska, Mykhailo Sheveliuk emphasizes the importance of the "Inclusive Premium" paradigm. This approach is rooted in the experience economy: empathy, communication ethics, and highly qualified emotional support for the guest. Implementing such standards into the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of hotels and restaurants is not only an ethical imperative but also a major competitive advantage in the modern market.

Key Directions and Discussions of the Forum
The Forum's work was divided into three key seminars, reflecting the main pain points and growth areas of the modern hospitality industry:
• Seminar 1. Trends in the development of the tourism industry in times of war.
• Seminar 2. Hotel business in the war period: realities, problems, forecasts.
• Seminar 3. Restaurant and gastronomic trends in the world and Ukraine.
Experts discussed the digitalization of the hotel and restaurant business (including the use of artificial intelligence), staff shortages, the development of enogastronomic tourism in Ukraine, and the transformation of business models during crisis periods.

Towards the Future of the Industry
The Ukrainian School of Hospitality continues its mission to form a new generation of professionals ready to work according to the highest international standards. Participating in events like the Lviv Polytechnic Forum allows us to integrate the freshest scientific developments and market analytics directly into our educational programs.
