Integration, Inclusivity, and New Hospitality Standards: LSUPC Students Visited the "Superhumans" Rehabilitation Center

60 Integration, Inclusivity, and New Hospitality Standards: LSUPC Students Visited the "Superhumans" Rehabilitation Center

As part of their introductory internship, first-year students of the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business at the Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture made an important and inspiring visit to the "Superhumans" rehabilitation center.

The event was initiated by the Head of the Department, Maria Paska, with the active participation of department lecturers Yuliia Pysko and Mykhailo Sheveliuk.

The Center's Philosophy: Not Patients, But Alumni

During the meeting, center manager Andriy Ishchyk shared the institution's unique philosophy with the students. At "Superhumans", they adhere to the principle that people who have undergone rehabilitation are not called patients, but alumni. They are not left alone after treatment but become a part of a large, united community.

During the tour and the lecture segment, students learned about the utmost importance of fully returning veterans to active social life, helping them gain education, and integrating them into the work environment.

Inclusivity as the New HoReCa Standard

For future hospitality professionals, this visit held immense professional significance. Special attention was paid to creating a barrier-free environment and inclusive service in food and beverage establishments.

The students had the opportunity to practically familiarize themselves with innovative solutions:

Adaptive tableware designed specifically for comfortable dining.

Ergonomic space standards that allow people with prosthetics or motor impairments to comfortably and independently use the services of restaurants and cafes.

Real-life cases of successful cooperation between modern business and veterans.

Rethinking the Role of Service

This visit became an invaluable experience for the students. It prompted the future industry leaders to rethink classic approaches to service. Today, the hospitality sector is not just about delicious food or a comfortable overnight stay. Modern HoReCa is about accessibility, equality, empathy, and deep social responsibility.

We are proud of our students, who, from their very first year, are forming the right values and preparing to implement the highest European standards of inclusivity into Ukrainian business!
